Tuesday’s Tails: Featuring Judson

Today’s Featured Adoptable Dog is Judson

Judson is a black & tan dachshund that has been with
Furever Dachshund Rescue for over a year now.
He initially came to rescue after losing his human to an accident.
It was surely a very sad time for Judson, but it wasn’t very long
before he came to be known as a “class clown”.

See that pink showing on my nose?
It’s from doing the “dig and cover” routine.
If you have doxies, you know all about that!
Don’t worry, the fur fills back in in no time!

A Story of Rescue: Bethany

I have watched quite a few videos featuring the amazing rescue efforts of Hope For Paws,
one very amazing organization making a huge difference in the lives of neglected animals everywhere.

Hope For Paws

Although they are based in Los Angeles, California, their videos have inspired a worldwide network of rescuers.  What an impact!  At the very least, the videos change the way people see stray dogs and shelter dogs, inspiring them to adopt a pet and save a life.

Thankful Thursday (Late and Long)

I made a quick post a few days ago noting that my mother was in the hospital; and that I might not be posting much until she’s out.  Partly because I don’t have the time, but truthfully, mostly because I don’t have the mental energy to crank out anything that requires a lot of thought.  I decided, though, that I would at least try to pen an update post, mostly because I need to just ramble for a while, as well as express a bit of gratitude.

Thankful Tree

Maybe I need to
make one of these.

“Mr. Toad”

Mr. Toad has lived in our backyard for at least a year.
He and the wieners have a mutual understanding.
“If you don’t pee on me, I won’t spray my icky toad poison in your face.”
Both have kept up their sides of the deal.
Mr. Toad was kind enough recently to allow a few close-ups…
We went over the proofs together,
and he chose these two to make the cut.

Brief Time Away

My 77-year-old mother is in the ICU at the hospital.  I will not be posting for at least several days, perhaps longer.

Thoughts and prayers are very, very much appreciated.

Thank you so much for stopping by and God willing, all will be back to normal or at least semi-normal soon.

Not a Single Flea… Ever

Flea Closeup

Disgusting, is it not?

Fleas… they are perhaps one of the most disgusting creatures upon planet Earth.  Just look at one. →

When I was growing up, I remember our dogs having to contend with many fleas.  And because they had to contend with fleas, we had to contend with fleas.  Back then, we didn’t have all the flea prevention products that are available now.  We had flea “treatments”, which were nothing more than a temporary fix at best, if a fix at all.  And we tried everything on the market at the time: flea shampoos, flea powders, flea sprays, flea collars… you name it.  I remember being bitten quite often by fleas, since we allowed the dogs on the couches and beds, which further spread the infestation.  As a note, when dining on humans, fleas seem to love legs.  Not much else, just legs.

{This Moment} See Beautiful: LittleBear

Today we join a very special blog hop,
hosted by the very special Sugar the Golden Retriever, on a very special day.
You see, today is the First Anniversary of the {This Moment} See Beautiful Blog Hop.
However, it’s my first time participating and I was unprepared.
I’d only just heard of it a couple weeks ago, and for some reason
had it in my mind that it was on a different day.

The Straight Poop: Part 2

Dog PoopingA while back I wrote a post called The Straight Poop and as one might guess, it was all about everyone’s favorite part of being a pet parent: poo disposal.  Well, this is somewhat of a follow-up to that post because we have recently upgraded our methods of disposing of the doggy delights.
