Austin really liked this Kong doughnut toy… for about 30 minutes…

(Sorry no picture of him tearing it up, but once I realized how much of it he had destroyed,
I just wanted to get it away from him as quickly as possible.)

  1. Uh oh…my sister would probably do the same thing!

  2. Wow Austin that is impressive

    • He tries. I think I’d like to enter him as a tester for dog toys… you know, to test their durability. You know, if I had any idea how to go about that 😉

  3. Wowza. That’s some chewing! Coulda been a Monday Mischief post!

I learned something interesting yesterday about Kong. My sis bought a Kong bed for her puppy’s crate at PetSmart cuz he’s a major chewer. The top part was great and really tough, but the bottom part was a much cheaper fabric, so he got under it (little nut!) and tore up the bottom. When she emailed Kong to complain – they said that PetSmart licenses their name, and they don’t always have total control over the products. Seems like kinda a bad idea, if you ask me, to let another company use your name, cuz I think of Kong as meaning “indestructible”!

    • Wow. I totally did not know that, especially since Kong products are sold in other places besides PetSmart.
I have heard their products aren’t made where they used to be, so a lot of their newer products are poorer quality than what people are used to from the Kong name. But now we know… and no, it’s not a good idea. Lord knows what mischief I’d make if I licensed the Jackie Bouchard name, lol.

  4. Nola shredded her red Kong in about 5 minutes. They aren’t as durable as they’re made out to be!

    • Yep! The only toy he hasn’t been able to destroy (yet) is the Kong Extreme – the black kind. We’ll see how long that lasts.

  5. Wow he really ripped that thing apart BOL!

  6. Yikes! I don’t like some of the newer Kong toys. I need really durable toys and those aren’t. We have to stick to the black hard rubber Kong toys.

    • Yep, those are the only ones he hasn’t been able to destroy so far… the black ones… the Kong Extreme. I’d like for them to be able to have a variety of toys, but with Austin around… I guess I’m going to have to stick to the REALLY tough stuff.

  7. We think you should e-mail that picture to Kong. Bet they send you something else.

    Hugs,

  8. Wow! He did a number on that toy! Looks like what my dogs do to their toys:)

    • He sure did. LittleBear didn’t like toys, so Li’l Girl could have all the toy variety that she wanted. She’s a toyminator too, but not in the way that Austin is. Now that we have him around, we can’t have much variety, because he destroys them too fast. The black Kong Extreme is the only thing that survives.
